The Panamanian nationality by naturalization can be requested by:

The aliens with 5 consecutive years of residence in the territory of the Republic if, after he has reached his legal age, declares his will to become naturalized, expressly give up his nationality of origin or the one he has and they verify that he has the Spanish language and basic knowledge of geography, history and Panamanian political organization.   

The aliens with three consecutive years of residence in the territory of the Republic that have children born in this country from Panamanians father or mother or spouse of Panamanian nationality, if they make the declaration and present the verification of the previous paragraph.  

The locals by birth, of Spain or a Latin American Government, if they comply with the same requirements that in their country of origin are requested to the Panamanians that would like to become naturalized.  

The Government will be able to deny its naturalization paper request for reasons of morality, security, healthiness, physical or mental disability.
